For the first time in Liverpool, we are doing a special relaxed atmosphere concert for children! With full orchestra, narrator and soloists!

If you love Christmas this might be the concert for you.

A narrator tells us about Bach and the music he wrote for Christmas and there is a whole choir and a full orchestra to play from it and show us how it goes.

Bach lived a long time ago so his music is different from what we hear today, but he loved Christmas - after all he had about ten(!) children.

The children can come with their parents or their school and there will be a relaxed atmosphere. You can even ask questions. We will sing bits together and the audience can help us with some percussion bits. You do not have to sit still. Meanwhile you learn what instruments there are in the orchestra, what the story of the piece is about and guess how Bach imagined shepherd's, kings and angels musically. Of course we will listen in to some pieces as whole with everyone playing together at the same time and how that works. And what the job of that person waving at everyone is.

Most importantly though, it should be an immensely enjoyable half hour of music!

For many of the adults who sing and play, Christmas is not complete without timpanis, trumpets and Bach!

Some of the older children or the parents and guardians might come back in the evening and listen to the whole parts I-III in the adult's concert.

Schools

We are currently approaching a range of schools regarding this event, which is why we have scheduled it during the school day.

Fees

We have been awarded a grant by the P H Holt Fundation, but are still looking for donors to allow us to expand our outreach work at schools and to break even.
